Report on CLIL pilot project

2023 saw the culmination of a two-year MFL CLIL pilot project that PPLI introduced in 2021. An independent evaluation report was commissioned to explore the potential of using CLIL to support and reinforce foreign language learning in Ireland as part of Languages Connect – Ireland’s Strategy for Foreign Languages in Education 2017-2026.

The report,  Evaluation of a National Pilot: The Potential of CLIL for Ireland,  led by Prof. Kim Bower and Dr Dee Rutgers from Sheffield Hallam University, examines the outcomes of a two-year initiative that integrated modern foreign languages with core content subjects like mathematics and geography. The report details the evaluation methodology, key findings, and recommendations for future CLIL provision in Ireland. Read it here.
