Communication does not just involve linguistic information (e.g. grammar and vocabulary). There are other important aspects of communication that are often neglected in the L2 classroom due to time constraints and a grammar-driven curriculum.
These resources are developed by Dr Erika Marcet at the University of Limerick. The resource provides you with some tools to teach communication from a perspective you might not be used to. The first part of the presentation slides focuses on making students aware of ellipsis through a range of activities that can be easily incorporated into the curriculum (suitable for Leaving Certificate). The second part helps students understand gestures that are used in Japanese communication that might be different to gestures used in Ireland (suitable for Primary to Leaving Certificate).
