These guidelines are designed to help principals and teachers respond to the challenges of the Primary Language Curriculum. They encourage a communicative approach to the teaching of Irish, explain how you can include the home languages of EAL pupils in classroom activities, and take account of the addition of a modern foreign language to stages 3 and 4 of the curriculum. The second part of this revised edition offers practical suggestions for the four stages of the curriculum in turn. This makes the guidelines an easy-to-use resource when preparing lessons for a particular class.
