Polish: Teaching Opportunity

PPLI is happy to announce that applications are being accepted for teachers of Polish in the Cavan/Monaghan area. The courses will be taught using a blended learning model. Teachers will deliver lessons online in conjunction with face-to-face sessions at regular intervals in a number of schools in the Cavan/ Monaghan area. The teachers will be employed on a part-time basis by Post-Primary Languages Ireland.  These hours will be dedicated to teaching and learning, development of resources and CPD.

Candidates should be qualified teachers of Polish and able to demonstrate the following criteria:

  • Understand the challenges of online learning
  • Understand language teaching methodologies in an online environment
  • Design of resources to be delivered in an online context (video, interactive activities, assessments etc.)
  • Interact well with students online and face to face
  • Create a learning environment conducive to learning online and face to face
  • Identify students’ needs
  • Create an inclusive environment
  • Design lesson plans that meet the needs of students
  • Use high impact teaching and learning strategies
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the profession

The person/s appointed will be expected to carry out the following duties:

  • Design materials for the implementation of the blended Leaving Certificate Polish course
  • Design materials for a TY Polish module
  • Liaise with PPLI, H2Learning and a school mentor
  • Engage in relevant CPD
  • Monitor and manage student progress
  • Provide feedback on assignments and as part of learning
  • Respond to student queries

Applicants must have

  • A qualification as a teacher of Polish
  • Teaching experience
  • Experience and expertise in the use of active learning methodologies which foster student engagement with the curriculum
  • Proven record of managing complex projects, meeting deadlines, and achieving results
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to motivate and inspire
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Polish
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Competence to engage stakeholders and partners and work collaboratively with others
  • Understanding of the post-primary education system in Ireland
  • Advanced IT and digital literacy skills
  • Flexible approach, self-motivating with ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
