Post Primary Languages Ireland fully funded by the Department of Education and Youth (DEY) is currently a unit of Education and Training Board Ireland (ETBI) and invites expressions of interest for the roles of Development Officers to teach Arabic, Mandarin Chinese and Portuguese.
Details on locations, class format and hours of work are provided in the relevant application forms.
Key Duties
The duties of the PPLI Development Officer will include but are not limited to the following:
– Plan and deliver target language face-to-face and/or remote classes;
– Develop resources for teaching and learning;
– Proactively promote and expand the language taught within the educational setting(s) and beyond;
– Engage in PPLI CPD and other CPD opportunities under the guidance of PPLI Education Officers;
– Participate and actively engage with the MS Teams platform for Development Officers by sharing resources and communicating with colleagues;
– Engage and participate in the educational settings where classes take place;
– Attend PPLI staff meetings when required.
Skills and Competencies:
– Language proficiency at minimum CEFR B.2.2 level or equivalent;
– Teaching experience at post-primary level;
– Target language resource development, language promotion, and intercultural competence;
– Digital skills for teaching and learning;
– Working as part of a wider team and working on own initiative.
Qualifications
Teaching Council Post-Primary (Route 2) registration will be a strong advantage. Teaching Council Further Education (Route 1) registration can be considered where registration criteria are not available or in special circumstances where there are other teaching qualifications and experience in educational settings and where registration in Ireland has not been possible.
