2025 Annual Foreign Language Assistant Induction: A Record-Breaking Start to the Year
- Posted on

The 2025 Annual Foreign Language Assistant (FLA) Induction, held on Thursday 2 October in Dublin, was a vibrant and energising event that welcomed a record number of incoming FLAs to Ireland. With over 200 participants across morning and afternoon sessions, the day was filled with connection, collaboration, networking, and preparation for the exciting year ahead.
The atmosphere of enthusiasm at the event was notable, from the moment FLAs arrived. PPLI Associates and staff from PPLI and the Department of Education and Youth greeted attendees and guided them through a dynamic programme that included icebreakers, presentations, group work and peer networking activities.
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive. FLAs praised the clarity of the sessions, the warmth of the welcome, and the opportunity to meet fellow assistants and their PPLI Link Associates, who will support them with any teaching and learning queries they may have over the coming year. Many highlighted the value of the group activities and the practical guidance offered on topics such as the living allowance and school integration.
A key announcement by the Department of Education and Youth during the event was the inclusion of FLAs in the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for 2025–26, offering free counselling sessions and additional wellbeing support – a significant enhancement to participants in the scheme.
