Serena Bannon, Education Officer (Primary)
Serena joined PPLI in 2025 as an Education Officer on the Primary team. She is a qualified primary school teacher and holds a degree in French and sociolinguistics from Trinity College and a Masters in Education from Marino College. She has a CELTA certification and has a keen interest in research into language, attitudes, and identity. Serena has over 10 years’ experience in working with languages (Gaeilge, French, English) and teaching languages to learners of all ages. She has designed and delivered courses in Education Centres, and has considerable practical classroom experience from her time working as both a mainstream and a Special Education Teacher.
Serena is passionate about the benefits of promoting languages, a plurilingual approach to teaching and learning as well as participation in language awareness initiatives, embracing and valuing the linguistic and cultural diversity present in our societies and classrooms alike, thereby fostering a more inclusive educational experience for all. Serena is currently on secondment from her teaching position at a school in Dublin.
