Jeanine Hennessy, Education Officer (Primary)
Jeanine joined PPLI as an Education Officer in 2025 following over 20 years’ experience in teaching and school leadership. She most recently worked as Deputy Principal and Special Educational Needs (SEN) Coordinator in a primary school in Lucan Co. Dublin, where she led inclusive education initiatives, supported staff development, and promoted effective pedagogical practice for language and literacy development.
Jeanine holds an honours degree in History & French from University College Dublin, a Graduate Diploma in Modern Foreign Language Education for primary level, and a Master’s in Language Education. Her thesis, Language and Literacy Development in the Second Language Classroom, explored strategies to support oral language fluency and literacy attainment — a focus that continues to shape her work. She also holds a Professional Diploma in Education Leadership and Inclusion and is currently completing a Master’s in Inclusive and Special Education.
She has delivered the Say Yes to Languages programme for five years, teaching French and fostering intercultural awareness, and has a developing competency in Irish Sign Language (ISL).
Jeanine’s professional interests include language acquisition, inclusive pedagogy, assistive technology, and literacy development — particularly in supporting struggling readers and pupils with dyslexia — as well as the needs of multilingual learners in diverse educational settings.
