The national final of the #ThinkLanguages 2025 Champion Team Vlog Competition took place on Thursday 29 January 2026 at the Clock Tower in the Department of Education and Youth. Six Transition Year students from Ennistymon Community School, Co. Clare, were crowned champions, winning a trip to Brussels, thanks to the support of the Department of Foreign Affairs and the A Career for EU strategy. Students from Our Lady’s Bower, Athlone, and St Mark’s Community School, Tallaght, were commended as runners-up. The prizes were presented by Chief Inspector at the Department of Education and Youth, Yvonne Keating.
The #ThinkLanguages Champion Team Vlog Competition encouraged “champion teams” of Transition Year students to be involved in organising a festival of languages and cultures in their schools during #ThinkLanguages Week 2025, and to vlog their experiences.
#ThinkLanguages is organised as part of the awareness campaign Languages Connect, and aims to excite and engage TY students about the languages and cultures around them; support teachers to create space in the school calendar to showcase languages; promote inclusion and the many personal, social, professional, and cultural benefits of language learning; encourage Transition Year students to choose languages at senior cycle and into third-level education; engage with the local community to raise awareness of the benefits of language skills; and celebrate languages together in schools, universities, and organisations on a national level.
#ThinkLanguages Week 2026 will take place from 16-20 November 2026.
