On April 29th, we were delighted to welcome 65 Modern Foreign Language (MFL) teachers to the Athlone Springs Hotel for a day of rich discussion, collaboration, and idea-sharing on the use of Artificial Intelligence in language education.
This national event, hosted by PPLI in partnership with Oide Technology in Education, explored the growing role of AI in foreign language teaching and learning. We were grateful to have our colleagues from Oide Technology in Education open the day and share their expertise on this rapidly evolving topic, helping attendees reflect on the opportunities and challenges AI presents in classroom settings.
In addition to MFL teachers, we were thrilled to have strong representation and support from across the education sector, including the Inspectorate, the NCCA, Oide Languages and Literacy, Scoilnet, COGG, and the University of Limerick – all of whom contributed meaningfully to the day’s discussions.
A highlight of the event was a Teach-Meet session with PPLI associate Vicky Bouché, who shared her current classroom practices and tools. Her session was both practical and inspiring, offering insights that teachers could take away and adapt to their own contexts.
