Salvo Cacciato, Education Officer/Deputy Manager - Primary Languages

Salvo joined PPLI in 2021. He is currently working as education office/deputy manager for the development and implementation of primary language projects. He previously worked as a secondary school teacher of French and Italian, where he led on Erasmus partnerships and before joining PPLI, he was on secondment for three years as an Advisor for Modern Foreign Languages with Junior Cycle for Teachers (JCT). He is an advocate for plurilingual education and early language learning and has a passion for engaging in partnerships and collaborative projects. He is a former member of the Board of Directors at Mother Tongues and former Chairperson of the Association of Teachers of Italian in Ireland (ATI).
Salvo completed a master’s degree in Foreign Languages and Literature in Italy. His master’s thesis was on early language learning and bilingual education. He was an Erasmus student and subsequently a language assistant in France during his college years. In late 2003 he moved to Ireland, where he completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Education in Trinity College before working as a teacher in secondary schools and more recently completed a course in Leadership and Management at UCD Professional Academy.
