PPLI is opening a call for research proposals to support and inform the consultation and development of a follow-on strategy to the current Languages Connect – Foreign Languages in Education Strategy 2017-2026.
Research Project: Attitudes to Foreign Languages
The call for proposals is for a research project regarding the attitudes of third-level students towards foreign languages. Proposals are being sought which address each of the following questions:
– What motivates students’ decision to participate or not participate in foreign language courses at third level?
– Which factors influence student motivation in relation to learning foreign languages?
– What are the potential barriers which prevent students from participating in foreign languages learning?
– What are the perceptions of students in relation to the role of foreign languages in their future careers or work opportunities
