Polish and Lithuanian JC Short Courses, TY Modules and LC Classes

PPLI Post Primary Languages News and Information

Under  ‘Languages Connect:  IRELAND’S STRATEGY FOR FOREIGN LANGUAGES IN EDUCATION 2017-2026′ we have been tasked with supporting schools to cultivate the languages of the new Irish.

To achieve this we are able to fund the teaching and learning of Polish as a Heritage Language in the Galway city area. This support can be directed to both Junior Cycle and Senior Cycle students.  For Junior Cycle students we have developed a short course for Polish as a heritage a language (available here). We are also in a position to fund language support classes for students preparing to sit the Leaving Certificate exam in Polish. While we encourage schools to introduce these courses during school hours, we are also able to fund them after school.

(Please bear in mind that a minimum of 8 students are required to run the course. Schools are welcome to liaise with nearby schools to achieve the required number of students.)

At the same time, the strategy aims to diversify and increase the uptake of languages learned. With this in mind, we have developed Transition Year modules in Polish & Lithuanian as a foreign language.  We are also able to fund this module should you be interested in offering it in your school.

If you would like more information in relation to any of these courses, please feel free to contact kenia.puig@ppli.ie.  Alternatively, you can complete the application forms below.
