The MFL Teacher Upskilling Scheme Phase 3 is now open for applicants.
With upskilling the MFL teacher can get equipped to teach a language again after a period of not teaching it, or they can expand their teaching, perhaps moving from junior cycle teaching to senior cycle teaching. Schools are able to expand their capacity in languages provision or add new curriculum languages. Eligible MFL teachers qualified in French, German, Spanish and Italian languages are encouraged to avail of the scheme.
The scheme was developed under the ‘Languages Connect’ strategy to activate the existing qualified, unused language teaching capacity in our schools. It is aimed at MFL teachers qualified in a language they are not teaching or are not teaching to full capacity.
While during COVID-19 online upskilling courses may be the only available options, the scheme covers different types of upskilling courses which will be possible to be accessed in full range once the COVID-19 situation allows.
