We are excited to be offering support for the implementation of the new language specifications. The absolute final deadline for registering your interest in providing one of the new Leaving Certificate languages is the end of this month so that we can plan for the deployment of and support for appropriate teachers. The link to this Expression of Interest form was included in D.E.S. Circular 2019/0061 on Curriculum Related Developments at Senior Cycle for school years 2019/20 2020/21 2021/22.
We will be providing CPD and support for teachers delivering the new specifications in Mandarin Chinese, Lithuanian, Polish, and Portuguese. We can also provide teachers where required in the short-term if there is a critical mass of students interested.
Diversifying the curriculum in your school will give your students more opportunities, giving them access to new languages will give your students access to new markets. Supporting the languages of the new Irish supports their well-being by allowing better academic outcomes, positive identity, and development of intercultural skills.
