#ILoveMFL – A Conference for MFL Teachers

On September 21st, PPLI and JCT welcomed 250 language teachers to UCC in Cork to take part in the #ILoveMFL Conference. This successful collaboration provided teachers from over 20 counties from Donegal to Cork with a space in which to ‘imagine, innovate and inspire’ through professional dialogue and networking. Teachers were treated to 2 keynote lectures and 14 different workshops focusing on approaches and methodologies, digital literacy tools and school projects related to language learning. The feedback from the conference was overwhelming positive, an opinion that we are hoping to revive at our larger conference in September 2020 at City West, Dublin for over 700 language teachers.

In the coming weeks, we will be adding resources to the #ILoveMFL page provided by those teachers who generously gave up their time to share their practice with others, as well as a variety of photos and reflections of the day. Currently, you can find here the keynote lectures of Martin Pillete and Nadine Fraizé (see links under their descriptions) and shortly the accompanying videos of the lectures. Martine’s presentation focused on the use of authentic texts in the classroom and how you might approach them with different groups of students and Nadine’s focused on Content and Language Integrated Learning or CLIL and provides teachers with a full set of resources to teach their very first CLIL lesson.
